Morning Walk

Since we moved up here, nearly 5 years ago, I take a brisk little walk each morning, usually around 6:30.   It's a nice workout to start the day and, maybe like a lab mouse, I get a bit of reward in the form of the newspaper(s), waiting for me nearly a mile from the house, to read at breakfast. The only reasons that might prevent my walking on a given morning might be illness (rare) or an early departure for a trip that day.  Weather, darkness--never.

It's always beautiful (another reward), no matter the time of year.  We've just had a very mild winter, to my chagrin, since it's my favorite season.  Perhaps that's why, after the snow storm this weekend, it all just seemed extra wonderful this morning.  The soft pastels of the sunrise helped.  I snapped as I walked, continuing to take a few after arriving home, through the kitchen windows.  The first few were taken yesterday (Sunday) out the kitchen window.

It's still pretty dark at 6:30...
On the way back home, it's getting lighter...
And I began to see a little bit of pinkish glow on the horizon...

The effect with the snowy foreground was stunning...

This is scene I had snapped in the dark earlier

Coming up to the top of our driveway...

From the driveway, looking over to the next hill...

The house...

 From the kitchen window...

Yeah.  I know.
